SERMON SERIES OVERVIEW

The world tells us that life is about finding ourselves, following our hearts, building our dreams, protecting our interests, and pursuing our happiness. But the more we make life about ourselves, the more frustrated, anxious, divided, and exhausted we become.

James offers a different path. Writing to ordinary believers facing pressure, uncertainty, suffering, conflict, and temptation, James refuses to let us settle for a self-centered faith. He exposes the hidden pride, selfish ambition, misplaced priorities, and independent spirit that often keep us from experiencing God’s best.

The greatest obstacle to God’s work in our lives is often the person staring back at us in the mirror. We are invited to move from self-centered living to God-centered living and discover the freedom, purpose, and peace that come from putting Jesus at the center. James isn’t interested in religious performance or empty spirituality. He wants a faith that works in everyday life--a faith that transforms our relationships, our plans, our finances, our struggles, and our community.
